Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Peter Eichhorn,
President of the SRH Hochschule Berlin
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Peter Eichhorn has been emeritus professor for Business Administration at the University of Mannheim since 2007. After he has finished his studies of economics at the universities of Würzburg, Freie Universität Berlin and Erlangen-Nürnberg, he spent a research year at the Harvard Business School in Boston and at the University of California in Berkeley as a scholarship recipient from the German National Academic Association (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
At the age of 32, he habilitated at the University of Münster in 1972. He was offered several professorships: 1972 at FU Berlin, 1972 to 1978 at University of Administrative Science Speyer, where he was rector in 1976/77, and 1978 to 1981 at University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.
From 1981 to 2007, he held the chair of “general business administration”, “public & non-profit management” at the University of Mannheim. At this time, he was also dean, dean for study matters, chairman of the examination board and member of the senate. His main field of research focuses on public business administration. He published several books and articles in trade journals. Guest professorships led him to Oxford, Milan, Tokyo, Strasbourg, Klagenfurt and Budapest.
From 1981 to 2005, he was chairman of the board and since 2005 he has been the president of the Federal Association of German Business and Administration Academies, Frankfurt/Main.
From 1992 to 2005, he was chairman scientific advisory committee of the German Society for Public Economy (now Federal Association of Public Services)
From 2006 to 2008, he was of president of ABSOLVENTUM MANNHEIM, which is the alumni network of the University of Mannheim. At the beginning of the year 2010, he took over the presidency of the SRH University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
