Shell Ideas360 - Students invent innovative hybrid offshore technology
SRH student Léa Charpentier and her team are successfully competing in the famous Shell Ideas360 competition and are already among the best 72 teams.
Léa Charpentier, student in the “International Business Administration – Focus on Renewable Energy” programme, and her two teammates, Mohamed Bakr, an Egyptian engineer studying at TU Berlin and Anna Charpentier, a French engineer, have made it to stage 2 in the internationally-recognised competition. They are now among the last 72 out of 1300 teams and are aiming for the finals in London.
The team has come up with an innovative hybrid offshore technology that harnesses energy from wind and from currents. The technology has a reduced impact on the environment compared to traditional offshore wind technologies, has a higher availability and a higher energy output.
Representing SRH Hochschule Berlin as the only German university left in the competition, the team is currently working on a study verifying the technical and economic feasibility of the project and is striving to be selected as one of the final teams.
Léa is really happy that her team’s idea made it so far already: “It is a great experience to participate in the competition. Leading an innovative project like ours is really exciting. It made us realise that we are real innovators!”
